Austrostipa syn.(Stipa) stipoides 'Coast or Prickly Spear Grass' A coastal tussock grass with soft length leaves and whitish flowering spikes to 1m in spring. POSITION: A hardy grass that is suited to most sites including frontline coastal positions. Austrostipa stipoides requires well drained soils. CARE: Once established this plant requires no maintenance, and can be cut back annually to promote new growth. Austrostipa stipoides is naturally adapted to coastal conditions and is a great plant for seafront gardens. USES: This plant has a natural soft sandy colour which can be used to give a very Australian architectural effect when used in the landscape. |
